I used to hate being on a budget, or being constrained by my budget. In fact, six years ago I was so stressed out about money that I avoided looking at things at all… to the point where we ended up with three months worth of electricity bills on a payment for no reason other than having my head in the sand. 🫣

But now, 2 years into a no buy/low buy journey… well ok, I still don't love it sometimes when I want to spend $150 on an office chair and need to wait months for that to be possible - but I have grown to have such a deep appreciation for all the little creative ways I can make my life feel more abundant, on a budget.

Whether it’s…

🧼 romanticising doing the dishes (it’s a journey, ok?)

🌳 slowing down enough to actually notice the things in my life that are beautiful and RIGHT THERE

🧶 discovering that there’s actually way more cheap or free fun things to do out there, and way more hobbies that can be done for ‘coffee money’

the biggest thing I got from our no buy experience surprised me - I feel so much more connected with my life now. That’s why we continued on the journey for so long!

Oh yeah, I’m Steph by the way! 👋

So, that’s what you’ll find here!

Of course, there’ll be tips and essays and snippets around sticking to a budget/doing things in a budget friendly way, but I also want to share my journey more with you.

What it’s like being a millennial living on a low to medium income, what it’s like being an autistic content creator with chronic illness who’s also working through CPTSD, the things that bring me joy (my husband, my cats, journalling, craft and so many more things).

I think we’re all in millennial recovery, at least a little.

Maybe you feel it too. The internet is amazing and magical but also now this little device in your hand feels like it’s zapping all of your muchness right out of you.

Maybe you’re like me and you’re constantly being fed the ‘wish I was back in the 90s/2000s’ reels and TikTok’s because you long for a time that felt more tangible and tactile and peaceful.

Maybe you also miss your purple iPod nano and your tamagotchi (even though you left it at the back of the drawer forgotten most of the time 😅) and 14 year olds actually going through an awkward stage.

Maybe you’re simply just a millennial on a budget trying to enjoy life and find a bit of meaning in amongst the chaos and many, many unprecedented times we’ve seen 🤣
